The ruling government of Chrothane was a greedy regime, always searching for new ways to increase their power. Since the Criosis of the world had been
destroyed, giving the planet the magic they contained, each human could only access limited bits of magic. If one had power over the elements that was all they
could do, their abilities ceased with that small bit. The strength of each person's magic varied greatly, making some so weak they could barely harm a fly
with their magic and making some so strong that they could decimate entire armies with a single shot. The later was so rare that the only ones of that power
that have appeared in the last couple centuries were the Elemental Kings, each descended from the most powerful of their kind: the demi-god Tobias Blackwater,
knight-errant for the evil goddess Malkoventuous. Tobias is now entombed in a stone statue showing his battle against his ex-friend Derrik Whitewind, mortal
son of the god Prion. Before the fear of the loss of power compelled them to do little more than sweat in their beds their came the great race war, pitting
elves, demons, angels, humans and shades against one another. The war was deadly, killing off thousands from each race and causing a powerful rift in the
ground to appear, known today as the Scar. The bodies of the demons, when the decaying process began, emitted a large amount of pure magic which could infect a
human with greater power than he could ever imagine. The government soon learned of this radiation and harvested the decaying bodies, using spells to trap them
eternally in the decaying stage and transferring them to a secret location. As time went by the power of each king was decreasing, slowly turning humans into
what they feared the most; magicless, frail bits of flesh trapped in a world filled with horrors so terrible that would destroy them over time. In an attempt
to avoid that fate the government created a building, a dark facility, deep within the heart of the Forbidden Forest, the deadliest and most magic filled place
on the planet. This facility became known quickly as the Blackheart Facility because of the terrible experiments being performed on infants raided from nearby
town. The deadliest of these raids was upon the town of Dir-Iajiago where the soldiers employed by the facility killed off every last human being in the town,
all except for the infants which were taken from their cribs or the dead arms of their mothers. Among the infants stolen was John Aravos, a youth of amazing
potential. When he was placed in the room in the facility he began to take to the radiation with surprising speed. Within the first week his strength had
tripled, making him much stronger than he should have been at that age. By the time John was five the full effect of his powers had evolved. He was at least
ten times stronger than a normal human, could transform into any animal he could think of, real or fake, and also had an absolute mastery over armed combat.
These were not, however, the powers that the government sought and therefore John was tossed out of the facility before a serum, designed to keep the
irradiated children alive after their powers matured, could be administered. Soon after leaving the facility he was picked up by a group of other outcasts,
powerful people who had also been denied the serum but who survived, and was taken in as a member of their tribe. This is where our story, our flight, begins.
